inShort App Reviews

91 Customer Reviews:

The app is really helpful and might replace Visio on my Mac. When you’re willing to put some hours into learning - the app will be your friend. However I still hope that there will ever be a guided tutorial with video instructions to easen the very first steps.

I tried this product on my IPad. I instantly found it very useful and bought the desktop version. The desktop version is even better and works in conjunction with my IPad and IPhone. I can now capture highly detailed project steps with documentation, decisions, and instructions. This is a great product. I recommend it to anyone trying to design anyting and convey the who what where and why in a clear fashion.

I discovered this program while I was looking for a way to implement PERT-based planning. My first software-based tool for doing project plans was MacProject, and I’ve never really felt that any other products really gave me the way to look at dependencies, and I had been using mindmaps to do this. So, to find an inexpensive program that would let me plan in a PERT-like environment and flip to GANNT charting for presentation and tracking seemed to be worth a shot. A couple of weeks and one project into this product and I realize it gives me that and a lot more. This program has a lot more than I need now, but it makes me think that there are other project management tasks that might be worth looking at again. The sample project that is included in the program is a fantastic walkthrough of the features. My only quibble is that some of the English suffers from some translation issues (but don’t get me wrong, that could easily be fixed and in no way lessens the value of the software). I’m anxious to see how it all syncs up with the iPad version. I may submit another review then.

Found this while looking for a simple Flow Chart to help illustrate process’ on my projects. Bonus discovering an App that actually provides even more features than I’d expected. Really like the concept of ‘drilling down’ deliverables / tasks into their sub-categories in a visual manner. Will provide additional feedback following further use. Would definitely recommend this to a ‘simple/basic’ flowchart and/or org chart ! :)

Excellent application

I found this application very useful besides the fact it requires a not so short learning curve. I strongly recommend it!

I have struggled to find a good flow charting application for MacOS. I have tried Omnigraffle pro, scapple, mind mapping, and several others. This is my new favourite. I can quickly capture complex decision trees and workflows. I love the drill-down feature, which keeps the diagrams easier to read and navigate. There is a bit of a learning curve, but it seems well worth it, and there is a very helpful tutorial included in the user guide. I am just getting started with this application. I have already significantly clarified my own project requirements (within a few hours of learning to use the program). I can sense that the developer takes great pride in the quality of his software. Recommended, and well worth the price.

I found Inshort in the app store when I was looking for a planning tool for a couple of projects that I am running. Honestly I was looking for a “MS Project” type of application as this is what I was used to. However after reading the reviews and viewing the screen shots I decided to give this application a try. I could not be more delighted with the product. The nested flow diagrams work excellent an as a flow diagram it is easy to share the essence of any plan very easily. The program also allows you to export the plan in many forms such as the typical GNATT chart form similar to that of MS Project. I like the feature that allows you to export the plan into an CSV format for importation into many spread sheet type applications. The program has a bit of a learning curve, but after playing around with the various features through trial and error and reading the user guide the inner workings of the program objects have become apparent. It is a well though out program with many features and worth the investment of both the time and money.

Nice Software both on Mac and iPad

I use this to document my software projects. It works very well. Most of the time I use the Mac Version but review and edit on my iPad.

I find this app slick and easy to use. Creation takes no time and then following up is easy. The design could be more in tune with Mac OS but the important thing is to get the job done isn’t it! Thanks! David

This is looking like a great alternative to MS Project for me. It allows me to work in a way that is more intuitive and visual, more workflow and less spreadsheet. Highly recommend you have a look.

I was looking for process diagram making software that was easier to use than some of the very expensive mainstream programs, and InShort is meeting my needs. Like other reviewers, I would have welcomed better guides and explanations of the different symbols, but that’s a small niggle. For the price, this program is quite powerful.

If you’re a technology professional who has to work on projects all the time this app could be very useful for you. This application allows you to easily diagram processes and projects. As an IT Systems Architect, my job is to often convince people to do something new or getting others to implement my idea. This is a really slick and simple way to visualize that something new. The price is easily justified in the time it saves me. I can see how this application would be equally useful for any analyst, developper, or PM.

I want to correspond to the Japanese

This is an unique and good app for managing a lot of stuffs of my business. Please consider Japanese localization!!

At last!

At last an app that allows us to manage projects using CCPM! And for a small price. Nested diagrams are also a great thing.

PiotrM123 v1.2.1 · 11 years ago

Very useful application. In addition to the basic function of the process mapping also supports critical path management, and includes elements known from the theory of constraints. Recent changes to support the GTD methodology and friendly interface made that at this price level there is no competition.

I like the app a lot, very full of features the one thing that would realy boost it is a video tour with the features illustrated, and defenetly a few walkthroughs, as im new to it i found a few items hard to get going, but none the less very rich program, reminds me of chess you need to know all the moves so you can have a great play otherwise your limited by what you think you know.

Chatoloco v1.4.2 · 10 years ago

I was hesitant about buying another piece of software to due to time constraints and the learning curve involved. But I have to say, it has not been bad whatsoever. It is very intuitive. I look forward to completely integrating my whole biz life into it. JT

As others have mentioned, the tool helps you think through the project thoroughly to begin with but does not stop there. Secondly it helps you not be fooled by your own fancy diagrams - for example it recommends the resources go top left, goals bottom right - and ensures that the resources are mapped to the tasks and committed to the project before starting to compute dates. The more you use it the more you know the developers know project management and have anticipated what you need. I admit to being a little lost after just going through the ‘First Look’ in creating a new project until I found the Checklist, under the Diagram menu - it prompts you step by step through the whole process.

After reviewing several flow chart and process apps, this was the only one that does it all. It works across Macbook and IPad, to allow you to work seamlessly. The visual layout is very detailed and customizable and gives a very crisp professional layout that will certainly impress clients and customers.
